All new Nomad kit for 2020 model KTM EXC 450/500 coming soon…
The prototype is finished, the drawings have been made and the machining has been done, see photos. Next is extensive testing for 10,000 km, both long distance mile munching over the German Autobahn followed by thousands' of kilometres off-road through Sweden and Norway.
KTM changed quite a bit for the 2020 model, including the frame and headstock which meant we had to make a new navigation tower and the mounting is changed too. The radiators are mounted lower, which meant new plastics and new side panels to the tower. The 2020 model EXCs rear end is new as is the exhaust system, so we've made new luggage racks to fit, which are based on the proven light weight racks we made for the 2017-2019 EXC models. The luggage racks you see in the photos are not complete yet and still in prototype stage.
We work closely with the great guys from MSC Moto, who make the best steering dampers in the world, which means we also have a steering damper and pro-bar mount for the 2020 model EXC.
An XL Seat Concepts comfort seat takes care of the long days in the saddle and we fitted a larger tank of course too. The wheels, with cush-drive, are from Haan and a big improvement over stock.
The brakes have been replaced front and rear for Moto-Master, the exact same specification as used by the KTM Dakar Rally Team, and are not only a massive improvement in sheer braking power but also have a much better feel.
We chose Moto-Master for the chains and sprockets too as the previous set lasted very well.
Avon TrekRiders are our tyre of choice as they offer loads of grip, also when it's cold and wet. A true 50/50 tyre which can handle the 1100 kilometre blast over the German Autobahn and still have plenty of thread left for the complete Swedish and Norwegian TET, followed by another 1100 km blast over the German Autobahn back. The previous set wasn't even worn out yet after 13,000 km!
