70 Years young and on his way to Mongolia...!
We've had the pleasure to work on quite a few bikes lately, various KTM EXCs, Husky FE and the Husky 701. All good stuff and a pleasure to work on, but none was more special than the KTM 690 Nomad with long range tanks we made. Why? Because Ivar, from Norway, who dropped his totally standard 690 Enduro off here, wanted it built for a trip to Mongolia. That by itself is already special for us... but it gets better! Ivar is 70 years of age... only got his motorcycle license at 60 years of age... did a trip to Kyrgyzstan on a BMW1200 GS when he was 69… found the bike too heavy and too limiting for the places he wants to go to and thus traded it in for a KTM 690... No lazy retirement for Ivar :-)
Building Ivar's bike and help him reach his goal was a real privilege.
We converted his 690 for long range travelling, as you can see in the picture, and developed quite a few new products for it. All of which are now available in kit form.
