Even the highest quality X-ring chain needs to be lubricated to minimise wear and tear between chain and sprocket. The X-rings also need lubrication, if only to keep them 'wet' and prevent the rubber seals from drying out and cracking. Once the chain starts to wear and the x-rings no longer seal perfectly, allowing the factory fitted grease to leak out, a chain oiler will keep your chain alive for longer by replacing the leaking grease with lubricant (rather than dust and moisture). Unlike spray-can lubricant, which turns into a sticky grinding paste when riding dirt roads, a proper chain oiler like the Tutoro will still function under dusty conditions. The lubricant will wash the dirt away and centrifugal force will expel it from the chain and sprockets. Simply turn the Tutoro open an extra 1/2 a turn to ensure replenishment of the oil and the chains and sprockets will remain lubricated. Lubrication is done with oil, which is much cheaper than spray lubes and available everywhere (even when there isn't a bikeshop around for thousands of miles). It really is a matter of fit, fill and enjoy.
The Tutoro chain oiler is a unique and patented system. Instead of electrical or vacuum connections to activate it, it has a motion sensor. When the bike moves it lubricates, when the bike stops so does the Tutoro. Unlike other systems Tutoro has no electrical or vacuum connection to the bike, no need to 'tap' into the wiring or plumbing. It simply actuates itself on motion. There are no batteries to replace and no leaking while standing still at traffic lights or stuck in heavy traffic. As the Tutoro is not connected to bike's electrical or vacuum system, fitting one will not jeopardise the warranty. This is the chain oiler we used on our 120,000 km record setting around the world motorcycle journey. They have kept our chains and sprockets alive for 35,000 km through the rigours of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, India etc. We tend to take the 'roads' less travelled to find the beautiful places, which isn't always the easiest on chains and sprockets. With the Tutoro we rode on just one set of chains and sprockets from The Netherlands, through Europe, Turkey, Georgia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, India, Myanmar and Thailand... Fitting is an easy process but if you're unsure then we can fit it for you as well |
